On 13 May 2025, the Vatican Dicastery for Culture and Education officially erected:
BLESSED IWENE TANSI INSTITUTE OF THEOLOGY, ONITSHA – NIGERIA.
This Institute of Theology, actually carved out from Blessed Iwene Tansi Major Seminary, Onitsha, is to run as an Independent Institution.
The Institute of Theology takes up everything as regard the academic formation of the Seminarians at Blessed Iwene Tansi Major Seminary.
It will however be also open to any qualified candidate (religious or lay) who has met the stipulated requirements for admission to study Sacred Theology.
The Dicastery for Culture and Education also ratified the appointment of Rev. Fr Daniel Ogochukwu Onuorah as the pioneer Director of Blessed Iwene Tansi Institute of Theology, Onitsha.
