Psychology and Counselling

Psychology and Counseling

Although functionally closely-related to Spiritual Direction, the Psychology and Counselling Council is a distinct unit in the Seminary formation structure. Cognizance of the need for a well-balanced psychological formation of the candidates, and of certain obstacles of a distinctively psychological nature, the Seminary’s Psychology and Counseling Unit seeks to accompany the seminarians through whatever psychological obstacles they may be encountering. This unit is animated by the desire that the priest’s human personality be so well-formed that it becomes a bridge and not an obstacle for others to meet with Jesus Christ. Through this unit, the Seminary strives to meet the psychological needs of the seminarians. At present, the Seminary has a full-time clinical psychologist who attends to this need.
